When Sigiriya, Kandy, and Ella are most comfortable — heat, rain, and climb timing.
## The short answer The Cultural Triangle and hill country are **travelable most of the year**. Popular clearer windows are **December–April** and again **July–September** for many inland itineraries.
## Heat and climbs Sigiriya and Pidurangala reward **first-light starts** regardless of month. Midday climbs in peak heat are the mistake we see most often.
## Hill country character Ella and Nuwara Eliya stay cooler. Expect mist and showers even in “good” months — pack a light layer.
## Pairing with beaches - Want south beaches after Ella? Book the south in **Nov–Apr**. - Visiting **May–Sep**? Lean east coast after the hills, or keep more tea nights.
